At present, PIDO works in the following thematic areas

Education

• Training of teachers on school management and administration.
• Distribution of school learning materials such as textbooks, chalkboards, pens, pencils,
• Construction of the school classes, school pit latrines, school fences and offices for the teachers,
• Drilling of boreholes
• Providing schools feeding

Land and Natural Resources

• Educating the communities to know Land Act 2009 and other human and people rights to own property.
• The registration, entitlement and ownership of the land in conformity with the laws.
• Training of community’s land rights paralegals to help the communities to defend and protect their access rights to land and register the legal procedures.
• Raise community’s awareness on the natural resources management and participate in the utilization of natural resources in term of service delivery.

Peace Building

• Advocating on peace building among the communities and reconcile conflicting communities
• Encouraging social cohesion and peaceful co-existent by mitigating their different through conflict resolution.
• Educating the communities to know the negative impact of the conflict and positive product of peace comparatively.
• Pursuing the Government to enforce justice and rule of law

Health Care (Mental Health and Psycho Social Support Nutrition and WASH)

• Conducting of mental health
• Provision of Psycho social support,
• Provision of nutrition for the malnourish children
• Initiation of WASH programs and hygienic sensitization

Livelihood and Food Security

• Annually training of the local framers on farming methodology to improve their skills to boost the production and upgrade the living standard
• Seasonal provision of agricultural equipment or inputs to the local farmers for the cultivation of their own farms.
• Supporting of some community members in Mayom, Bentiu and Rubkona to conduct small businesses to enable them earn a living.

Child Protection (CAAFAG, FTR, MRM, PSS & GVB)

• Conducting child protection by demobilizing, disarmament and reintegrated them with their parents/ families.
• Supporting of orphaned children in the location of our work.
• Provision of the children with medical assistance.
• Legally acting in mitigating abuses and violation of children rights as well as social rights to education and other social services.

Climate Change and Environmental Protection

• Raising community awareness on environmental protection
• Provision of the community with the principles of the prevent environmental pollution.

Human Rights and Good Governance

• Mitigation and litigation of human rights violation
• Pursuing and persuading the government for the reduction of social inequality
• Eradication of gender based violence among the community members and the families.
• Provision of legal assistance to the GBV victims
• Pursuing the Government Institutional reforms and enforcement of the rule of law

Youth and Women Economic Empowerment for Job Creation.

• Training of Youth and Women on vocational skills e.g. tailoring, carpentry, building, welding , production of bricks for sale
• Training of youth and women on entrepreneurship for income generating e.g. bakery, tea-making or selling, local hotels or restaurants, beekeeping, fishing
• Provision of business development service (BDS) for the growth of youth businesses

Oil for Development

• Creating awareness on the environmental protection against pollution caused by oil companies
• Creating awareness on the Petroleum Act 2012 that provides 2% of the oil income for the oil producing communities
• Verification of information or concerns caused by the oil companies

Camps Coordination Cluster Management (CCCM)

Coordination and facilitation of the efficient, effective and predictable delivery of protection and services at community level ensure that the rights of IDPs and other affected populations are protected, and advocate for durable solutions.
• Coordination with the clusters for provision of direct support to the IDPs

• Responding with relief interventions to emergency and disaster
